The Sims 5: Release Date and Fan-Requested Features

The Sims is among the most popular life simulation game franchises on the market. Launched back in 2000, the series has become one of the most played titles of all time, with the latest build being The Sims 4, which was released in 2014.

The developers rolled out the most recent update for the fourth title in the series in November 2019. The title came with the Live Lavishly Bundle. It’s been over five years since the last The Sims game launched. And now fans are waiting for the fifth sequel.

The Sims 5 Release Date

EA has not announced the official Sims 5 release date. Some reports suggest that the gaming giant EA will release the new game in early 2021, and some say it will come at the end of this year.

However, The Sims 4 will receive one more major update sometime this year. Fans mentioned in numerous cases that we might see the new “The Sims 5” after that.

The Sims 5’s New Features

Fans are also expecting a lot more to happen in The Sims 5. Firstly, support for VR (virtual reality) devices such as Oculus, OEMs, and so on, which is currently limited in the fourth game of the series. Another request from fans is an open-world exploration, demanded since the launch of The Sims 4. The third sequel in the franchise supported this mode, and fans really loved it.

Other requests include more transportation systems for The Sims 5, as well as more careers for the protagonists. The Sims 4 manages to come with a few of those requirements through its new modes, but fans expect the forthcoming title to have them out-of-the-box.

  1. I’d really like to see the sims 3 hair color system back for the Sims 5. I liked that it was the whole wheel, and that you could do a base color, highlights, and lowlights. That was one of my favorite things about The Sims 3. I’d also like to see spiral staircases come back.
