We are about to get Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, so fans of Breath of the Wild 2 started to think that the game has been canceled.
The sequel was officially announced back in 2019 for Nintendo Switch, but we still don’t know anything about it. The arrival of the prequel of Age of Calamity has made fans think that there won’t be any sequel for The Legends of Zelda anytime soon.
However, we are here to put all the rumors to the rest. Age of Calamity will not replace Breath of the Wild 2.
Breath of the Wild 2 got canceled?
Fans don’t need to worry, Breath of the Wild 2 is not canceled. After making an announcement for Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, Eiji Aonuma has also given a statement about the development of the sequel.
“Regarding the sequel, in order to make the vast world you enjoyed exploring in the original game even more impressive, the team is working hard on its development – so you’ll have to wait a bit longer before we can provide more updates,” said Aonuma.
This is all we know so far about the sequel. It is not canceled, but we will definitely need to wait a bit until getting to play it. Let us remind you that the first Breath of the Wild was ready after an entire console generation, so we’re probably not getting it anytime soon.
Also, some fans think that Age of Calamity is actually Breath of the Wild 2. This is not correct. These are two different projects from two development teams – Nintendo and Koei Tecmo. It’s true that when they first started to talk about Age of Calamity, they wanted it to be a game that would explore the world of Breath of the Wild, but they have changed their mind in the meantime.
