Final Fantasy XIV is now available for free on the PlayStation Store. The game’s Online Starter Edition can now be grabbed at no charge forPS4 but for a limited time, as the deal is valid only until May 26th, 9.00 a.m PDT.

Final Fantasy XIV is Free to Play Online
Final Fantasy XIV Online Starter Edition is the 14th DLC of the acclaimed role-playing game franchise, and it is the second MMORPG in the series. The typical price tag of the title is $20, and players have to also pay a monthly subscription fee to play the online version.
However, now, players can get enjoy the title via the ‘Free Play’ campaign, which normally ended on May 15th, but Square Enix has decided to give fans another chance to play the popular game.
For those who want to check out the Final Fantasy XIV Online Starter Edition, the developer offers a 30-day free trial that comes with the pack; therefore, no additional purchase is needed for now. However, if you want to continue playing the game online, you’ll have to pay the monthly subscription fee of $12.99.
Together with the pack, Square Enix offers Final Fantasy XIV: a Realm Reborn, a base title that can be played by multiple gamers with no need to subscribe to PlayStation Plus. The deal is only available for PS4 at the moment, but the developer has yet to announce the game being offered for PC as well.

Even though the game might not have some installments, such as Stormblood, Heavensward, and Shadowbringers, it is a great way for new players to get accustomed to it and then invest in it later on. We should probably note that the Starter Edition only allows players to get to level 50, with the rest of the game having to be purchased.
