Google Authenticator 5.1 Update – Features
With the recent update, Google Authenticator has now an account transfer feature and a Material Theme redesign. The dark theme fits the background color flawlessly from other apps. The FAB (Floating Action Button) has also been revamped and has a more colorful Google’s plus sign. The account names appear now in blue and use the Google Sans font.
The three Button additional settings menu got updated and has a new “Transfer accounts” feature that lets users import or export codes. The system uses the QR barcodes, which are quite convenient as they entirely remove the need to visit each service individually and set up Google Authenticator on another device.
The Google Authenticator 5.1 update is dynamically set to match the device’s large screen. Previously the app displayed a tall black bar at the bottom. For additional security, users can’t take a screenshot of the updated app. Such a feature is similar to that of Chrome’s Incognito.
