Minecraft has just released the new 20W09A snapshot, which allows players to get a glimpse at the new features scheduled for an upcoming update. The Crying Obsidian is by far the most remarkable addition of the new release, which is a type of block and material players can get.
Here is how to get your hands on Crying Obsidian and how you can use it.
How to Get Crying Obsidian
In order to acquire Crying Obsidian, you have to get into the Nether and do a bit of trading. More specifically, you want to trade with a Piglin, which is one of the new mobs that came with a recent Minecraft update.
Piglins can be found in Nether only, and are very hostile. However, you can counter this by wearing a gold armor since they love it – this will turn them into a neutral mob. After finding a Piglin, gift it with a Gold Ingot, or drop it close to them. After the Piglin analyzes the item, they will throw something on the floor.
There are a few items they could give in exchange for the Gold Ingot, and Crying Obsidian is one of the most common they would drop. Here are all the items the Piglins give for a Gold Ingot.
- Netherite Hoe – 0.44 percent
- Warped Nylium – 2.21 percent
- Splash Potion of Fire Resistance – 2.21 percent

At the moment, this is the only method you can use to get the item. The Crying Obsidian doesn’t have any operational uses as of yet. At the moment, it is only a decorative item that can make a home in Minecraft more charming.
