iOS 14 Update: Apple to Feature List View Home Screen and 2FA for iCloud

According to some new rumors, Apple’s upcoming iOS 14 might use a list view Home screen rather than the layout the OS uses now.

Moreover, the Cupertino-based tech giant is also said to add two-factor authentication for its iCloud function, confirming an initial report based on iOS 14’s code. These newly-surfaced leaks have added more details to previous speculations on the upcoming operating system for iPhones

iOS 14 Features and Enhancements

Reports have surfaced that Apple will rather choose the list view Home screen as it launches the iOS 14, which means that users will no longer have the usual grid layout. If the leaks end up being correct, it will be the first time Apple uses the list view on iPhones.

Another iOS 14 feature that leaked relates to widget management. With the update, iPhone owners will allegedly be able to drag the widgets around the screen, in a similar way they would with apps. Reports also imply that the new OS would replace their device’s default apps. For instance, they may be able to set a default browser, music, and maps utilizing third-party apps.

This means that iPhone holders may replace Safari as their default browsing app and be able to download different apps for music and maps. iOS 14 is also said to allow owners to explore more wallpapers besides the Apple default options.

More leaks hinted that the tech giant would also add a security feature on iCloud, with the Keychain having a two-factor authentication. iMessage also gets changed on the iOS 14 update as well. The app will feature group typing indicators, and a message retract function, which will allow senders to delete a message sent wrongly.

iOS 14 Release Date

Apple is expected to release the iOS 14 on the WWDC event of this year, which was scheduled for June 22nd. However, some rumors revealed that the company might not release the next OS during the said event, but rather launch it along with the upcoming iPhone series. Apple has not released any statement on the matter yet.
