A lot of people are saying that there’s no use for a tablet as long as you have a smartphone and a laptop or desktop at your disposal. They’re totally wrong, as tablets are used for educational purposes in schools, among construction sites, and so on. Furthermore, you can connect a keyboard to a lot of tablets so you can practically transform them into laptops.
Today we’ll be comparing two such beautiful devices – tablets that can easily transform themselves into laptops. They are coming from two tech giants from the United States – Apple and Microsoft are bringing their iPad Pro and Surface Pro 7, respectively. Let’s see what each of them has to offer:
Apple is very clear regarding its product:
“The world’s most advanced mobile display. So fast most PC laptops can’t catch up. Pro cameras and LiDAR Scanner for game-changing AR experiences. And you can use it with touch, Apple Pencil, a keyboard, and now a trackpad.”
And there’s no wonder why the giant tech company from Cupertino says so about its iPad Pro: the device is equipped with the powerful A12Z Bionic chipset, not to mention the 6GB of RAM. The tablet is also packed with an IPS LCD display of 11 inches and with a huge 1668 x 2388 resolution.
But the good news doesn’t end here, as Apple’s device is also capable of taking some decent photos with its two camera setups: 12 MP for the one from the rear, and 7 MP for the front camera. There’s not much, it’s true, but these cameras are suited for video calling. The front camera can record videos in HD, while the rear setup is even able of 4K recording.
iPad Pro 2020 could be bought for about 800 euros.
Surface Pro 7
Surface Pro 7 is also light and slim as the iPad Pro 2020, and it offers many useful features. Microsoft puts it clear about its product:
“At the office, at home or en route, new Surface Pro 7 adapts to the way you work with laptop-to-tablet versatility. And now, it delivers more power than ever, with a laptop-class Intel® Core™ processor, all-day battery, and improved graphics — plus more multitasking connections, including both USB-C™ and USB-A ports. More power from the Pro you know. Surface Pro 7.”
Surface Pro 7 has a higher resolution and a bigger display than its competitor for today. With 2736 x 1824 pixels and a 12.3-inch screen, the tablet can be a great companion. It can be packed with an i3, i5 or i7 processor from Intel, and up to 16GB LPDDR4x RAM. As for the storage, the device supports up to 1TB SSD. Of course, you can use the Surface Pro 7 as both a tablet or laptop, as you can also take advantage of the touchscreen while using a Surface Pen.
Microsoft’s device weighs only 1.70 pounds, and it’s ultra-slim and comfortable to carry it along with you anytime you need it. Its dimensions are 11.5” x 7.9” x 0.33” (292 mm x 201 mm x 8.5 mm). The battery life allows up to 10.5 hours under typical device usage.
Surface Pro 7 is also decent for taking photos as it’s equipped with an 8 MP rear camera that’s capable of 1080p full HD. The front camera is also capable of recording full HD video, but it has only 5 MP.
The price for Microsoft’s Surface Pro 7 starts at $749 (690 euros). Seems we have an offer on Amazon:
The Surface Pro 7 is better than iPad Pro 2020 in terms of hardware, display size, and resolution. And it’s even cheaper that Apple’s creation, too. So our conclusion is that you should choose Microsoft’s tablet. But if you’re willing to have more camera power for an extra amount of a little over 100 euros and wihout caring too much about the other specs, you should choose iPad Pro 2020.
