We have heard a lot that iPhone 12 will be delayed due to the new coronavirus outbreak. It seems that this is all true.
What is the worst-case scenario here?
According to some reports, “Apple is preparing the ground to possibly delay the launch of its first 5G iPhones.” Of course, the delay might be tied to the coronavirus pandemic, which has truly changed the world in such short notice. When it comes to how far Apple will delay the release date, it is probably in terms of months – the earliest release date may happen in the holiday season. But there is also the possibility that the iPhone 12 will be delayed into the next year. The worst-case scenario is 2021.
According to analyst Daniel Ives, it is unlikely that Apple will launch the new phone in September-October. The decision Apple has to make does not only stand in the production difficulties. Apple is worried that there will be a “significantly lower consumer appetite to upgrade their phones,” and that “they need the first 5G iPhone to be a hit.”
We know that long-fans of Apple will be thrilled to get their hands on a 5G iPhone, but many potential upgraders do not really think about getting a new phone right now. And Apple is taking a really long time – longer than Samsung or other big names in the industry – to make the 5G device, the company will probably want to make sure that the device will have everything it needs to beat the competition.
According to some reports, Apple will have to make a decision before the end of the May with regards to the 5G iPhone and its release date.
