We have all seen how TikTok took the world by surprise. It has become so popular by giving users a platform to show their creativity in a 15-second short video. It has become even more popular than Facebook, Instagram, and Snapchat. Back in 2018, it became the most downloaded app in the US.
TikTok is the seventh most downloaded app of the decade, finding its place along with Facebook, Messenger, WhatsApp, Instagram, Snapchat, and Skype. We’ve heard rumors of it being shut down in 2018. But that did not turn out to be true. But now we’re dealing with some serious allegations.
We have heard that the US Navy has banned TikTok from mobile phones, calling it a cybersecurity threat. After an investigation, the army advised soldiers not to use the app. Lt. Col. Robin Ochoa stated that the app is “is considered a cyber threat” and won’t be allowed “on government phones.” But she did not say anything about personal phones.
Everyone is talking about the shutdown, but no one knows for sure if that’s true. We have no official confirmation, and the makers of the app have not addressed the rumors as they did back in 2018.
Given how popular the app is, we don’t believe that it will find its end soon. Or do we? The app is already down in many of the US regions. India has also banned TikTok and other 58 apps. TikTok has withdrawn from Hong Kong. The company stated that they have decided to stop operations of the app in the region.
Not only countries, but also companies and organizations are banning TikTok. Wells Fargo and Amazon took the step forward to remove the app.
