Jupiter has performed a lot of odd actions lately, flinging hazardous space objects into the inner solar system. Such things could have dangerous impacts on Earth.
Some space researchers think that the immense planet secures Earth from comets and other cosmic features, but the latest research, however, indicated otherwise.
The well-known Jupiter Shield system suggests that the planet poses as a massive space shield. That action happens because of its immense volume causing it to absorb or deflect hazardous matter.
The Jupiter Shield theory is quickly dismissed by one of the preeminent critics, space expert Kevin Grazier. His work includes several publications demonstrating its opinion on Jupiter.
Recently, he set his goal to show how Jupiter, “a sniper-like” planet, works. Grazier’s comprehensive research could place the Jupiter Shield idea in jeopardy.
Scientists simulated how Jupiter is throwing asteroids at Earth
“Our simulations show that Jupiter is just as likely to send comets at Earth as deflect them away, and we’ve seen that in the real solar system,” detailed Grazier to Gizmodo.
Moreover, Grazier’s research offers some new scientific principles that prove the advanced methods behind how a cosmic feature can be turned into a hazard. He teamed up with NASA’s Jet Propulsion Lab and with the incredible University of Southern Queensland to prove how Jupiter could turn moving objects into likely Earth-dangerous cosmic features.
Grazier and his team have agreed that although their designs can display how Jupiter selects matter into its orbit and throws it back, the planet can also perform as a shield at the same time.
Grazier added: “I think we now just have to pay more attention to what’s happening a bit farther away in Jupiter’s neighborhood.”
Asteroid and comet blows are a type of cause for concern because they can bring hazardous impacts on our planet.
