PlayStation 4’s controller, DualShock 4, is one of the best controllers out there. It’s amazing because it also works for PCs and Android devices, so you won’t really need a PlayStation console if you want to use it. This means that you can play all your favorite games from Minecraft to Fortnite on your phone with a PS4 controller. We have written this article to help you set up the DualShock 4 to your phone.
Keep in mind that there are two ways in which you can connect your DualShock 4 to your phone. This controller supports both direct USB connections and Bluetooth. Of course, Bluetooth is the easier option, but if you are planning a long gaming session, then you might want to go for the USB connection.
You can connect your DualShock 4 to your phone with a Bluetooth connection just like it does on a PlayStation console.
First of all, you will need to hold down the PlayStation and Share buttons from your controller until the light bar placed at the back of the controller starts to flash a white light. This means that the DualShock 4 controller has started pairing mode. Next, you need to open the Bluetooth options from the Settings and choose to pair a new device. Then find the DualShock 4 in the list (it might appear as Wireless Controller), then confirm the pairing.
After you’re done playing, you can disconnect the controller from the Bluetooth settings, or you can simply hold down the PlayStation button for a few seconds.
If, instead of the Bluetooth connection, you want to use your USB connection, then then you will need to get a good cable or adapter in order to connect your controller to the phone. If your device has a micro USB port, then you will need to get an OTG adapter. Use it in order to plug in the DualShock 4 controller.
If your device has a USB Type–C connector, there are two things you can do. You can use a USB Type–C adapter, in which case you’re using the existing power cable, or you can buy a USB Type–C to MicroUSB cable. This means that you won’t need an adapter. The controller will start working automatically when you connect it with the USB cable.
