We come with great news for all Half-Life fans. It’s the game you’ve all been waiting for – for more than 10 years. A new title of the sci-fi shooter series Half-Life is in works right now.
Valve Corporation, the developer, tweeted that a new game called Half-Life: Alyx is now in works. We will get more details on the 21st of November. Half-Life: Alyx is a virtual reality game which will work with the Valve Index headset, which was launched earlier this year.
In the last 10 years, the company has lost focus on the traditional game development because they wanted to launch and maintain its games on the Steam platform, and they started to focus on the VR technology. Since Vive was launched in 2016, the company also released some VR demos and other experiences, like Moondust and Lab – they are both based on its Portal series of physics puzzlers. They did not start to work on Half-Life 3.
The first two titles in the Earth Invasion series are the most acclaimed titles from the industry, you join the hero Gordon Freeman in a first-person shooter brilliant game that shows the alien race in the shape of Combine. Half-Life 2 and the other two episodes extended the story, and Gordon got to meet a small human rebel force.
What we are getting from the title of the new project is that one of the rebel leaders, Alyx Vance, will get a lot of attention from the makers for this VR project. Alyx was a non-playable character in Half-Life 2, and it was considered a landmark in video game representation. A woman of color got the leading role when we all know that the game industry is led by male protagonists.
