iOS 14: This Hidden Feature Will Make Your Life Easier

Although Apple has mentioned most of the major improvements coming to iPhone users with iOS 14 throughout last week’s official reveal, lots of users have been discovering their own enhancements not unveiled during the tech giant’s annual WWDC conference.

One of these fixes an issue that iPhone owners have reported for a while now. iPhone users can now add captions to their photos straight from the device. Initially, this was something that could only be done in the Photos app on Mac, but now people are allowed to write descriptions immediately without having to wait for pictures to sync.

While this might seem an insignificant addition, writing a short description of photos makes a huge difference because the data is then indexed for use with the Photos search interface. Simply put, finding particular images should be a lot easier, as long as you’ve been thorough with the captioning.

How to Add a Caption to Photos in iOS 14

Adding a caption to images on the new operating system is rather easy, as MacRumors explains. Simply tap a photo to see it full screen, and swipe to access the caption section. Tap the field, write your text, press ‘Enter’, and the caption is saved.

It is bits of ‘quality of life’ adjustments like this that should make your device more exciting to use. We can see why Apple did not have time to mention this feature; iOS 14 sports a plethora of other functions, such as widgets for the Home screen and a revamped Siri, as well as a picture-in-picture mode and App Clips, the company’s version of Google’s Instant Apps.

The operating system is also said to come with a Sound Detection feature, a bunch of functions inspired from Android, and other useful additions.

All of these features will be available in iOS 14, which is set to launch as a public beta in July and officially roll out this fall.

iPhone 12 Price Leak Just Shut the Door on the iPhone SE

A recent leak suggested that the iPhone 12 would cost only $649, and it initially sounded crazy. The report implied that the 5.4-inch iPhone 12 is starting at that price, and the 6.1-inch iPhone 12 Max would be $699.

This means that the iPhone 12 Max would have the same price as the 6.1-inch iPhone 11 of last year, which would make sense but in a very aggressive move, as Apple is said to add 5G to the mix. In comparison, Samsung Galaxy S20 with 5G starts at $999.

Then, this week, a report surfaced claiming that the tech giant may be launching an even cheaper variant of the iPhone 12 with 4G connectivity that would cost only $549. That would be an incredibly affordable price for a new Apple flagship, with $150 less than last year’s iPhone 11

If you were considering buying the $399 iPhone SE, a $549 iPhone 12 suddenly makes Apple’s mediocre device look way less appealing. The iPhone 12 is said to come with a larger display than the iPhone SE – 5.4 inches versus 4.7 inches – a more performant A14 Bionic chip and dual rear cameras rather than just one for the iPhone SE.

iPhone 12 vs. iPhone SE – Where Are They Standing?

The iPhone 12 should also feature Face ID, which some prefer to Touch ID, and slimmer bezels. Moreover, leaks suggest that the iPhone 12 is even smaller than the iPhone SE in spite of having a larger screen.

In terms of battery life, the iPhone SE lasts about nine hours and 18 minutes on most surfing battery tests, but most phones on the best battery life list last more than 11 hours on a charge. There were no speculations regarding iPhone 12’s battery capacity, but it will probably be higher than iPhone SE’s.

In addition, due to the fact that the iPhone 12 will be powered by a 5-nanometer A14 Bionic chip, it should be more effective overall than the 7nm A13 Bionic SoC on the iPhone SE.

This leaves the iPhone SE as a solid entry-level phone for now, but when Apple will hold the launch event – probably in September – a smoother, faster, longer-lasting, and enhanced iPhone 12 should be able to explain its premium if the speculations end up being correct.

Google Play Store vs. Amazon App Store – Which One is Better to Use?

App stores are crucial for smartphones. Such marketplaces offer a wide collection of apps and games that can be downloaded on the mobile device; from food ordering applications to flight booking and simple ones such as a calculator or reminder, these stores are packed with everything a smartphone user would ever need.

So, when talking about apps stores, there are two whose name instantly strikes, the Google Play Store, and the Apple App Store. Both these platforms store about 90 percent of the total available apps on the market today. However, besides these two, there are other emerging places like this, such as the Amazon App Store

Still, when compared to the Google Play Store, Amazon’s platform has a long way to go. The Play Store features about 3.8 million apps, while Apple’s market place for iPhones and iPads has about 2 million apps that are available at the moment. Then, there is the Amazon App Store that offers less than half a million applications.

However, the platform is a great experience, so we decided to compare it properly with the Google Play Store. Here is everything you need to know about these two platforms.

Google Play Store

This store doesn’t really need any introduction. It caters to all the Android OS, enabling users to download all the apps available on it. The Play Store also provides music, magazines, books, movies, TV programs, games, and so on.

The apps are either free or paid, and can be downloaded straight from the store.

With all the popularity surrounding Google Play Store, privacy is still a top concern for Android users. On numerous occasions, malicious apps were spotted by security researchers – these apps threaten to breach user privacy with different degrees of severity.

Pros
  • Simple and easy app publication
  • Highest users
  • Tops in revenue among all the marketplaces
  • Maximum downloads
Cons
  • Intricate ASO (App Store Optimization)
  • Fierce competition
  • Device (and OS) fragmentation
  • Google can modify apps as they wish
  • Tons of malicious apps at all times and privacy concerns

Amazon App Store

Amazon is not only into e-commerce and cloud computing but has lately stretched its arms in the Android market as well. The company launched the app store in early 2011 and has made the content available in almost every country. What is worth mentioning is the fact that the Amazon App Store is focused more towards tablets and functions on the Android operating system.

Amazon’s first Kindle tablet was released later in 2011 and solely depended on Amazon App Store for the apps, as it comes pre-installed on the device. Moreover, it allows HTML5 apps besides the regular ones, with most of them being created to better integrate with the tablet’s UI.

The platform is not limited to tablets, but it also covers all other devices. The one thing Amazon App Store has and Google‘s store doesn’t is the guidelines to publish an app. The store strictly blocks offensive content such as gambling, pornography, and meets country-specific restrictions. This provides more sales for the store.

The other major difference is the way the app content is shown. Every app in the Amazon App Store has more keywords, videos, and screenshots of it. These things are included to be more appealing, but it makes the platform more interesting. In addition, the app store offers amazing discount sales like 25 percent off Amazon Web Services, 30 percent cashback for download, and 500 thousand free ad impressions in the Ad Network.

Pros
  • Better discount campaigns
  • Allows HTML5 apps
  • Simple ASO
  • More chances of monetization
  • Filtered content, more secured
Cons
  • Inflexible policies
  • Minimal users
  • Tablet-specific
  • Fewer downloads
  • Restricted outreach

Closing Thoughts

Amazon App Store and the Google Play Store offer similar services and work for the same operating system. That doesn’t ruin the fact that Google Play Store has remarkable amounts in terms of app availability and downloads, while Amazon’s platform provides users with impressive deals and has useful app features.

Both stores offer ample opportunities to attract more users, but the thing that remains the same for both platforms is the ASO practice, which has to be perfect. In the end, it depends on the user as they have to consider the device they operate and what features they expect.

Rick and Morty Season 5: Rumors and New Changes

A lot of fans were satisfied with the fourth season of Rick and Morty. According to them, the animation was nice, the story was intriguing, the jokes were fresh, yet still in tone with the good old Rick and Morty style, and the flow of episodes made for an interesting marathon. But guess what? We do not agree with all that. Well, we do, for the most part, but there were many elements in the latest season of Rick and Morty that made us feel more than a little disappointed.

Rick and Morty is currently one of the most anticipated shows out there. The fourth season aired on November 10, 2019, and it was finally completed on May 31, 2020. The reception to the show was absolutely wild. Viewers had to wait a lot for the show to come around. This time, they waited for a full two years, and have really developed significant expectations regarding the content in all this time.

In the show, Rick and Morty went through a lot of adventures, jokes, and even some avant-garde animation concepts. The audience was not impressed by some plot twists in the season, but the creators stand by their decision. The wait between the third and the fourth decision was really long. Still, Dan Harmon, the co-creator of Rick and Morty, has explained that this will never happen again. In a recent interview, he mentioned that he does not understand how they managed to take so long to release the fourth season, but, out of respect for their fans, they will never do this again.

Of course, Dan Harmon’s comments only make fans wonder more and more about when the next season of the much-anticipated show will come out. For now, the release date has not been made public, but that is expected, considering how little it has been since the release of Season 4.
