The launch of the next-generation consoles is slowly approaching, but so far, there weren’t many games announced for either PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X. However, that could change soon as Sony revealed in a recent meeting with investors that it is getting ready to unveil its PS5 to the world.
The Games Will be Revealed Soon
In the corporate strategy meeting held by Sony, the company said it intends to ‘introduce a compelling lineup of titles soon’ for the upcoming platform. The phrase is rather vague and only suggests that the announcement could be made any time in the future. However, taking into consideration that the console developer is still targeting a fall release, we expect to receive some more details sometime during the summer.
Usually, such an announcement would be planned carefully for an event like E3, but as we know, Sony decided to stop participating in the annual event even before it was called off because of the pandemic. That has left numerous annual publisher events in the air, and the pandemic has also meddled with some of the plans Sony had on works.
The company also mentioned in the strategy meeting that the game demand is up because of the lockdown, and it noted that PlayStation Plus subscriptions have recently got to 41.5 million.
In the meantime, we’ve gotten a glimpse of some next-generation game from an Inside Xbox presentation. The reveal focused on third-party titles for Xbox Series X, but many of them are also coming to the PS5.
The presentation showcased a number of games, including Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Dirt 5, Madden 21, Yakuza 7, and more. One of the most important details from the stream is the fact that they use Microsoft‘s Smart Delivery system, which allows players to enjoy the games they purchase across either Xbox One or Xbox Series X.
