Saints Row 4 Not Working? Here’s How to Fix It

Is your Saints Row 4 Not Working? If you’re experiencing technical issues with the game, you’re not alone. Despite being a highly-regarded open-world game developed by Volition and published by Deep Silver in 2013, Saints Row 4 can still have its fair share of problems.

While the game doesn’t have high hardware requirements, you can still run into issues. Some things can stop it from running properly or even entirely, and below we’ll cover some of those problems.

Saints Row 4 Not Working – Possible Issues

The game is freezing

This thing happening is not rare at all among the Saints Row 4 players. Whether it happens during gameplay or before the game even starts, you should try the following simple operations:

  1. Clear the cache
  2. Update the graphics card drivers
  3. Reinstall the DirectX software
  4. Clean your Registry, and start the game

Black screen

This is another common issue, but pretty simple to fix. No-one wants to get his game interrupted by a black screen covering the whole screen, right? To fix this, try these operations one by one:

  • Update drivers for the graphics card
  • Update drivers for the motherboard
  • Head for the game’s settings and disable the VSync, anti-aliasing, filtering, and also the multi-sampling
  • Disable the antivirus program for a limited time
  • If you are playing the game on Steam, disable the Firewall or allow SR4 through it
  • Make sure no programs are getting in conflict with the game – open Task manager > Process Tab > and stop the unwanted processes

To fix the lagging, you have to make sure that your machine has what it takes to run the game properly. Saints Row 4 doesn’t require high configuration at all, but you should check just in case.

Second, open the control panel for your graphics card and disable the Vsync and Antialiasing to lower the settings. These measures will get you rid of that nasty lagging in no time!

Unable to save game on Steam

This is a bit more complicated to fix, but surely not impossible if you follow the following steps:

  • Exit the game and restart your system
  • Run Steam and validate your Game files.
  • Login to your account, click Library section, and then choose Saints Row 4
  • Right-click on it, and choose Properties.
  • Go to Local Files tab, and click ‘Verify Integrity of game cache’
  • Start the game and save some progress

Unable to install

One of the reasons that you are unable to install Saints Row 4 is that your antivirus is stopping it. Antiviruses are blocking the installation of programs they don’t recognize, and therefore a game can fall into that category as well. Simply disabling your antivirus while you install Saints Row 4 can fix the issue.

Also, a faulty DVD can prevent the game from being installed. Therefore, you should try cleaning the DVD and try the installation again afterwards.
