Samsung has released Galaxy Z Fold 2 and the Galaxy Z Flip foldables, but there’s a new rumor showing that there might be another device on its way – Microsoft Surface Duo.
According to users on Twitter, the device has a completely changed name: Galaxy Z Fold S, which is very similar to Galaxy Z Fold 2. These are just rumors, so we would take them with a grain of salt, but if Samsung is really working on a new foldable device, it’s normal for it to be a different form factor.
As we’ve already seen in the Galaxy Z Flip, Samsung has always been bold. They have always experimented with folding phones, even if they had to go against a competitor. We’re talking about Motorola Razr.
According to the post on Twitter, the Galaxy Z Fold S will fold inwards and outwards through a 360-degree hinge. This means that you will be able to have the display on both sides even if it is shut. This might be quite similar to the Huawei Mate Xs and the Surface Duo.
The difference with this device in comparison to the Surface Duo is that the new device from Samsung uses a single folding OLED panel, and not two separate screens joined with a hinge. The release date for this device is set for 2021.
For Surface Duo, the preorders are open now, and some of them will be shipped next week, but only in the US. People say that the device will not be released internationally until 2021. It might come against the next device from Samsung, Galaxy Z Fold S – should the rumors be true.
