Sony Announces Official Date of the Delayed PS5 Reveal Event

After an uncertain delay announced last week, Sony’s PlayStation 5 reveal event has officially come back on.

The event has been rescheduled as an online-only reveal that will take place on June 11th at 1:00 Pacific Time, as per a post uploaded on the PlayStation’s official Twitter account. The event will live stream on both Twitch and YouTube

The event, which was initially set to take place on June 4th, was delayed last week because of the protests against police violence and social injustice happening across the United States and the world. The tech giant’s statement at that time read that the timing seemed wrong to make announcements regarding new PS5 games

“While we understand gamers worldwide are excited to see PS5 games, we do not feel that right now is a time to celebrate, and for now, we want to stand back and allow more important voices to be heard,” Sony’s statement read.

The Event Will Showcase PS5 Launch Titles

The company has already revealed a lot of details regarding the next-generation console, but intel concerning the launch titles was a bit scanter. As Sony and Microsoft neck-to-neck this holiday season with the new consoles, we’re sure PlayStation will maintain its edge in delivering launch exclusives even if Microsoft keeps bulking up on studio purchases.

The June 11th event, will the company said will last for about an hour, will reveal ‘what’s in store for the next generation of games,’ according to Sony. The company has not clarified whether these titles will be PS5 exclusives, third-party titles, or some kind of mix of the above.

It is also not clear whether Sony intends to showcase the PS5’s physical design, even though now it would be a great time to do it, as many fans are anxiously waiting to see it. Microsoft has already revealed what the Xbox Series X looks like months ago.
