The Latest PS5 Controller Patent Reveals Voice Control Support

Sony is still developing its much-awaited next-generation console known as PlayStation 5 or PS5, which is supposed to launch this year. Although the official release date is rather far, the console has already been the center of numerous leaks, which unveiled new information each time.

After a potential design of the product surfaced, a new patent of the PS5 controller has appeared online. For those who aren’t aware yet, Sony redesigns its controller each year by adding new features to it. With the PlayStation 4, the tech giant incorporated a touchpad and share button on the impressive DualShock controller.

It now appears that the company might add voice control support to the fifth DualShock device. The patented images clearly depict a speaker and microphone, which might be attached to be used by players for voicing commands. The voice control support will obviously be a great and powerful addition to the device.

Revamped Patent for the PS5 Controller

Owners of the next-gen console will be able to manage numerous aspects of the system, such as turning it on and off and accessing games. The controller can also be utilized to open apps by voice commanding. It would definitely be interesting to see whether the product will pack voice assistants like Alexa or Siri. Previous rumors have also implied that the tech giant is actually developing some type of AI assistant for the next-generation console.

In addition, the DualShock 5 controller will allegedly pack adaptive triggers that will enhance the overall gaming experience. This new feature will adjust the vibrations for the player’s fingers to match the actions of the game.

There might also be a better battery with the revamped controller. It is worth mentioning that although Sony has filed for the patent, it doesn’t mean that the ultimate version of the controller will look exactly like the patent. That is why rumors should never be entirely taken for good.
