The Sims fans have been begging for an online multiplayer game mode for a few years now, and it appears as their pleads might finally be answered. From what we know about The Sims 5 so far, online multiplayer is a real option, as per the latest announcement from the EA.
The reveal now has two communities excited for great things to come: a new Star Wars expansion is allegedly making its way to the title. This year, Andrew Wilson, CEO of EA, hinted that The Sims 5 could focus more on social features, which translated in multiplayer mode for many players in the Sims community.
Online Multiplayer in The Sims 5
In an interview with Forbes, EA’s Andrew Wilson said that the ‘notion of social interactions and competition like the kind of things that were actually present in The Sims Online many many years ago […] will start to become a part of The Sims experience in the years to come.’ This means it is possible that The Sims 5 will have an online multiplayer mode.
This means it is looking very likely that online multiplayer will arrive in The Sims 5.
But what could online gameplay look like?
You could be able to visit other players’ creations, which could add an interesting dynamic to the game and could also trigger some sabotage similar to what you can get with Minecraft. Also, we’d probably have the chance to even hang out together in a similar manner as Animal Crossing: New Horizons players. The
Still, online gameplay is not the only great function The Sims 5 is expected to pack.
Improved Graphics and New Features
EA has already confirmed that The Sims 5 will have the best graphics in the popular series, as well as more customization options. Among new trailers and teasers created by dedicated fans of The Sims 5, the video below depicts what a fan thinks the game might look like:
Besides advanced graphics and customization options, The Sims 5 will come with a bunch of new features, which have been speculated to include better and more modern vehicles as well as full neighborhood customization.
The Sims 5 Release Date
Unfortunately, EA has not given any details regarding a possible release date for The Sims 5, and there’s no talk in town about a launch date anytime soon, so it is unlikely we’ll get the game this year.
The most probable launch timeframe is early 2021, but, again, these are only speculations as we have no concrete information. In the meantime, you can enjoy The Sims 4 as it still receives new content, and will definitely get more in the future.
With so little information about what’s to come with The Sims 5, fans are still hoping to see a demo in the near future. The next-generation consoles from Sony and Microsoft are on schedule at the time of press, so we will probably get some word on a potential demo in the next few months.
Whether the forthcoming game will be available on Origin, next-generation consoles, or even both remains to be seen.
