After six years, we are finally getting a new Sims game. It has been in works for quite some time, but the sequel to 2014’s The Sims 4 is on its way to the market. It is developed by Maxis and published by Electronic Arts, and it is still in its conceptual phase.
It has been said that the new game will have a new multiplayer component and that it is going cloud-base.
So when is the release date?
We don’t know the official release date of the game yet. But speculation suggests late 2020 or 2021.
Back in January 2020, the EA CEO, Andrew Wilson, has given us some hints about the next generation of The Sims being already in the pre-production phase.
Do we have a trailer?
Right now, we don’t have the trailer either, and as far as we know, it will be released closer to the launch date.
What about the plot of the game?
From the new game, we can expect more “social interaction and competition.” It will come with both single and multiplayer components. Also, developers are planning to add elements from The Sims Online.
Wilson stated: “As Maxis continues to think about The Sims for a new generation – across platforms in a cloud-enabled world – you should imagine that, while we will always stay true to our inspiration, escape, creation, and self-improvement motivations, that this notion of social interactions and competition will start to become part of the ongoing Sims experience.”
Where can I play the game?
If we are to take a look at the past Sims editions, we will see that the fifth installment will be available for PC before PlayStation and Xbox. We don’t know if the game will also be available on Nintendo – there’s no word of it.
