Apple has just introduced tvOS 14 GM for both Apple TV 4K and Apple TV HD devices.
The best thing about it? You can download it for free as of right now!
Little can be said about tvOS 14, except that it is a massive release for big fans of home automation.
If you are among those people, you’ll be happy to hear that the Gold Master (GM) seed of tvOS 14 is available for registered developers and public beta testers.
If you have beta on your device, follow those steps to get the new update:
- Turn on your Apple TV.
- Open the Settings App.
- Scroll down to System and open it.
- Select Software Update and install the new update from there.
The public beta of tvOS 14 was released only a day before the full public release, which is odd.
If you are up for the beta version, go ahead and grab it!
When tvOS 14 is available, you must know that it will be released as an over-the-air (OTA) download for Apple TV 4k users, which means that there’s no way to do a clean installation.
However, the Apple TV HD features a USB-C port, so there is that option.
tvOS 14 will finally bring 4K YouTube support to Apple’s big-screen device.
The new operating system version also brings support for viewing camera feeds directly on your TV, support for the new Xbox Elite 2 controller, audio sharing, adaptive lighting, and more!
If you needed Apple TV to do more than play YouTube videos, this is a significant change!
Stay tuned and get the update as soon as possible. It would be a shame not to do that, especially as it is entirely free!
