We finally get to see a bit about the display of the iPhone 12, and it is all thanks to an online leak. It looks a lot like the screens of the recent iPhones. We were hoping that Apple would shrink the displays on its upcoming phones, but it seems that it won’t happen.
The leaked image comes from a Twitter user who is known for posting photos of iPhone components, such as the A14 Bionic processor. The tweet has been deleted, but people were able to get it before it vanished.
Another tweet from the same user shows the panel in detail, and this time, he also says that the new panel comes with the same Face ID size.
We know some people will be disappointed to find out that Apple would not shrink the notch on the phones, even if the phone needs less space in order to also put the sensors and cameras, which help with the Face ID image recognition system.
Jon Prosser stated that they will choose a smaller notch. Apple wants to downsize or get rid of the notch for good. According to some reports, the future apple phone will not include a notch, but that won’t happen until 2021.
This notch was first introduced with iPhone X back in 2017, and the notch really gave the phone a different look from what we’ve seen up until then. The notch supports Face ID, which helps secure the device better with the unlocking feature.
But the notch of the iPhone means that Apple will still have phones with the bezels simply bulging into the display. Sometimes it just does not add up. More and more Android phones choose to go for minimal bezels for their products, and Apple might feel a bit pressured to do the same.
