Penny and Leonard finally get together for the very first time after he returned home from the research he conducted at the North Pole. At the same time, there’s a little bit of awkwardness between them. Sheldon is trying to help Raj to stay in India by asking him to work for him. The friendship between Penny and Sheldon grows a little bit more as they help each other to learn new things. For example, Sheldon teaches Penny about physics, and Penny teaches Sheldon about baking cookies. Sheldon is also the rational voice between Penny and Leonard. Sheldon teaches Leonard about football in order to impress Penny’s friends.

Barry Kripke becomes Sheldon’s enemy, and he wants to get revenge. At the same time, Bernadette gets invited to watch Leonard’s experiment as she shows an interest in physics, thing that makes Howard jealous. Penny asks Sheldon to teach her about physics in order to understand Leonard’s work.

We also get to see Leonard’s mother giving him a surprise visit, which seems to be a bother for her son and for Penny, but an excellent visit for Sheldon. We also see Will Wheaton appearing as being Sheldon’s enemy. Leonard says “I love you” to Penny, but he doesn’t get the response that he wanted to from her, so they broke up. In order not to upset his friend, Sheldon keeps a secret the fact that he had a friendly dinner with Penny after they broke up. Penny gets to a definite conclusion that she cannot date normal guys after dating Leonard, so she ends up sleeping with him again.
